Apparently my kids are hooked on sugar from birth. Maybe it's all my fault with my diet while pregnant, maybe it's genetic from thier Daddy, who knows... but this week I'd been having a heck of time getting LFn to eat any of his oatmeal cereal. I'd mostly blamed it on being off-schedule and in a new place (we're staying at my Mom's for Christmas) and so I didn't push it on him. But by day three of hardly any cereal he was getting pretty nasty and cranky in between feedings and acting like he was staving. So I figured I'd try something new and feed him his cereal before his bottles to try to get the more substantial thing into him first. Well...that didn't work. He just seemed to scream harder about it. So finally I caved a put a tiny bit of brown sugar into his cereal, you know, just to see...
I haven't seen a baby eat faster in my life.
And ever since I haven't even been able to get the spoon back in the bowl before he starts complaining about it! This morning I finally had a brainwave and started mixing it with apple juice (I think we'll switch that to applesauce when I get some) instead of brown sugar and he still seemed to like that. So, anyway, we're definately back on schedule now!
But talk about a little sugar bug!
Not to mention Great Grandpa G dipped his suckie in the sugar bowl behind my back...
