Catch Up

Apparently I've got to get around to this blog more often! We've been pretty busy lately though, between the dog and the new day care kids. The dog is still not house trained... The daycare kids on the other hand are two of the best kids I ever could have asked for. Lil H and J get along so well and are so similar, which also creates its own problems. They're both not used to being the submissive part of the play dynamic! So there's a lot of scrapping over the pecking order, a lot of "she did this" and "she did that" and toy thievery. I think we'll work it out eventually though, and they'll be great at sharing one day if it kills me...
The week before I got started with J and L I had a lot of free time to kill so I got it in my brain to take the opportunity to go back home and do some visiting. So I packed up the kids, the house, and the dog, and headed down. And, brilliantly, decided to stay with my sister, Aunty P, for the trip for a change of pace (which meant a lot more packing as she's not as kid-friendly as Grandma!). So... the dog got mauled by all the big rotties my sisters own, but she got back at everyone by peeing in each respective house; the kids slept like (ha ha) babies through two nights of partying at Aunty P's, which is apparently the norm there on the weekends, but totally out of my league; I managed to avoid a hangover even though I felt fairly good both nights, not sure how, but hey, I'll take it. I'll never do it again, but I'll take it; Daddy came down Saturday night after work to play hockey and I was totally and completely DONE! So I convinced him to pack up early and head home on Sunday instead of Monday.
Then.... three days later we packed it all back up and headed back down for Easter! AARRGHH!! This time we stayed at mom's at least and we did Easter with Daddy's family this year so we had some different company too, so it wasn't that bad visit-wise, just hard on the systems!
Easter was amusing this year because Lil H understood a bit of what was going on! Though she did take her dear sweet time about the egg hunt though! She'd find a toy, go sit and play, get egged on to find another treat, go sit and play....
Finding Easter candy with Daddy:

She was way more interested in the cows than the candy!
Anyway, this past week hasn't been all that pleasant either, other than finding out that the daycare kids are going to work out well, they did bring a flu bug into the mix! Somehow I managed to be the one to succumb to it first (well, after the daycare kids of course), but at least the fever lined up with my days off so I didn't have to work through it, but then Lil' H picked it up, then Lil' F. Now we're waiting for Daddy, seems inevitable... It was the first real fever LH's ever had (LF too for that matter, but not so amazing on his part!) and it made me really nervous. I hardly deal with fevers on my own, never mind for my kids! But we seem to have made it through, though we only managed to finally get good temp readings this morning, just as I was about to call it in to the doctor because LH had been going on about four days.
It really wiped everyone out though! She fell asleep while daddy was playing!
Take a look at where his hand is! Couldn't even finish playing...
So yeah, nothing much all that exciting going on, just trying to get the new routine worked out with the kids, and try to figure out where to work in my own still fairly new exercise routine, just can't seem to convince myself to get up early to do it! But those evening runs have still been paying off though, I've managed to drop 20lbs since New Years, half of which has been in the last month since I really commited to this running.
